Other studies have found that coconut oil could help in the treatment of eczema, a skin condition that causes dandruff. One study compared the effects of mineral oil and coconut oil on atopic dermatitis, a type of eczema characterized by inflammation and itching. Baking soda for dandruff

Some ingredients you use every day for cooking are double as effective dandruff remedies like baking soda. Baking soda is not only an amazing ingredient for baking cakes and cookies but is also a capable and impressive disinfectant when it comes to cleaning anything, including your itchy scalp.

Baking soda has the power to remove the excess oils produced by the scalp, by washing and cleaning off that extra grease that creates dandruff. Your kitchen ingredient baking soda could hold the key to the flake-free scalp and an itch-free. Wet your hair first and then rub a handful of baking soda paste vigorously into your itchy scalp.

Skip the shampoo once or twice a week and go right to rinsing the scalp. Baking soda reduces overactive fungi that cause dandruff. Your hair may get all dried out at first try, but after a few weeks, your scalp will start producing natural oils, leaving your hair free of flakes and softer. Not only that, baking soda is a natural antiseptic ingredient, as well as helps balance the pH level of the scalp, making it a great Do It Yourself DIY dandruff shampoo.

Mix 3 tablespoons of baking soda with water until you reach the perfect paste form consistency.

For better results, part your hair in section-wise and apply a few drops of olive oil before spreading the baking soda paste on your scalp, and let it sit for 10–15 minutes.

Thoroughly rinse the mixture of the paste out. For best results, repeat this procedure regularly- once or twice a week.

Is there anything in this world a few cloves of garlic can’t solve?

From fighting to vampires to fighting off colds, this amazing food is also great for eliminating dandruff and itchy scalps. Crushing garlic releases an enzyme known as allicin, garlic’s primary active ingredient that’s responsible for so many of its awesome health benefits.

Allicin is brimming with antibacterial and anti-fungal properties plus antioxidants that prevent infection and keep dandruff from forming. Garlic can also boost immunity, helping your body to fight off infections all on its own.

To make your own anti-dandruff garlic hair mask, crush 5 or 6 cloves of garlic and let it sit for 10 minutes so that it can begin to form allicin. Then, mix in some organic honey to enhance the anti-fungal properties and apply it directly to your scalp. Let it sit for 10 minutes and then rinse with water and shampoo.

Zinc pyrithione shampoo

Large research found that people with seborrheic dermatitis, itchy scalp and dandruff have more than double the amount of histamine on their scalp than those without itchy head skin.

The researchers analyzed that the effect of shampoos containing zinc pyrithione on histamine levels and participants with itchy scalp and dandruff who used zinc pyrithione shampoo had a significant reduction in itch and in intensity histamine levels. These types of readymade shampoos are readily available in any medical store and in other retail medical outlets. The amount of zinc pyrithione in each shampoo varies by different brands.

Some people may find that doing daily shampoo provides itch relief. Others may find that this dries the scalp. They may find greater mitigation of itchy scalp from doing daily shampoo their hair every once or twice a week instead of daily.

This type of zinc pyrithione shampoo may be an advantage and prove to be beneficial to people who have an itchy scalp due to allergies, which creates an increase in histamine levels. In extension to its positive effect on histamine, zinc pyrithione also reduces yeast and fungal growth. This is a major cause of seborrheic dermatitis.

Lemon juice for dandruff

Lemons contain antiseptic properties, which is why they are proven to be a great home remedy for a dry scalp and itchy scalp. Lemon juice, acts much like Apple cider vinegar which is also acidic in nature, and therefore alters and balances the pH level of the scalp, banishing unwanted dandruff-causing fungus and bacteria.

However, as the pH level of your scalp changes regularly throughout the day, lemon juice is just a temporary fix for dandruff and itchy scalp!

Squeeze and then massage the fresh lemon juice onto your scalp and leave it in for 10 minutes. I actually recommend testing a drop of lemon juice on a small part of your head skin first, if it really stings badly and then dilutes the juice with some water.

Repeat this procedure at least daily until the itchiness goes away.
